ZoneAlarm Free Firewall

ZoneAlarm Free Firewall is a great bit of free software offering antiphishing guards and outbound protection as well as the usual detection network you’d expect from ZoneAlarm.  There have been a few versions of the free ZoneAlarm firewall, each one looking to surpass the last with its usability, reliability and new features.  The latest version (ZoneAlarm 9.2) which might not be the latest version for very long, but at the moment it is the latest version . . . okay! Right, the latest version of ZoneAlarm Free Firewall includes even quieter outbound protection, behavioral detection, an automatic WiFi security activation, antiphishing protection and 2GB of online storage as well as an overhauled toolbar.

Installation of the ZoneAlarm Free Firewall takes around 5 minutes and your computer will need re-booting afterwards (just like after any other installation really). The ZoneAlarm Free Firewall offers a great outbound firewall, not just inbound. Whereas that might seem a little strange and not so important as protecting your computer from incoming threats, it can still come in extremely handy. Apart from preventing your computer for spreading any viruses or malware to others, it can also be useful for, example, if your computer has been compromised by some sort of botnet it will prevent it from sending data back to the host servers . . . I bet you hadn’t thought of that had you? It’s also useful for preventing program spoofing . . . when malicious programs pretend to be good . . . and IP spoofing . . . when harmful network transmissions pretend to be safe.

ZoneAlarm Free Firewall works hard to shield your computer from intruders and render you invisible to potential hackers, stops viruses from sending your personal data (passwords, social security numbers etc) to hackers, detects any spoofed programs and works alongside other antivirus programs to ensure that you maintain safe and secure web browsing. All in all, not bad for a freebie!
